MerchantsResponsibilities
Responsibilities
Understand the division of responsibilities between Tapaya, your platform, and your merchants.
When building a payment solution with Tapaya Accept SDK, it is important to understand who is responsible for what. The ecosystem involves three main parties: Tapaya (the infrastructure provider), You (the Platform/Integrator), and the Merchant (the end-user collecting payments).
The following table outlines the core responsibilities:
| Requirement | Tapaya | You | Merchant |
|---|---|---|---|
| Education | |||
| Engagement | |||
| Collecting payments | |||
| Settlement | |||
| Invoicing | |||
| Resolving Disputes |
Detailed Breakdown
Education
- Tapaya: Provides technical documentation, API references, and compliance guidelines.
- You: Translate these technical requirements into user-friendly guides for your merchants.
- Merchant: Consumes the materials to operate the point-of-sale solution effectively.
Engagement
- You: As the platform, you are the face of the service. You handle marketing, onboarding, and first-line support. Tapaya operates in the background to power the payments.
Collecting Payments
- Merchant: Interacts directly with the cardholder. They are responsible for initiating the transaction on the device and ensuring the customer completes the payment flow.
Settlement
- Tapaya: Automatically processes the movement of funds. We settle earnings to your platform or connected accounts according to the payout schedule.
Invoicing
- Tapaya: Generates invoices for processing fees and other service charges.
Resolving Disputes
- Tapaya: Notifies you of any disputes (chargebacks) and provides the dashboard or API to manage them.
- Merchant: Must provide compelling evidence (e.g., receipts, proof of service) to contest the dispute.
